.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1251 AM CST Sat Dec 20 2025

Zonal flow above 700 mb will prevail over our region through
Monday north of an upper ridge fixed over the northern Gulf,
southern Texas, and northern Mexico. A few mini-shortwaves are
expected to move along the northern periphery of this ridge on
Sunday as a very broad upper shortwave moves eastward over the
Ohio River and Great Lakes regions. When combined with increasing
moisture in the lower levels and a weak cold front slipping into
our area, a small chance of light showers are forecast the latter
half of this weekend, mainly northwest of the I-65 corridor. Dry
weather conditions will otherwise prevail through the forecast
period. A light southeasterly to southerly today will bring
boundary layer moisture northward, so we do expect fog development
late tonight into Sunday. Areas of fog should form west of the
Tombigbee River with visibilities down to one-half mile possible.
Patchy fog is expected elsewhere. The upper ridge to our south
will slowly build northward Monday night into midweek, thus
keeping our forecast area dry and very warm through the Christmas
holiday, with highs rising into the lower to middle 70s, with
upper 70s definitely possible inland areas.

Beach Forecast: A LOW risk of rip currents will occur over the
weekend, and then become a MODERATE risk Monday through midweek
due to an increasing easterly flow over the Gulf. /22

(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1135 PM CST Fri Dec 19 2025

VFR conditions will prevail through Saturday evening. Light
northeasterly winds will shift southeasterly to southerly by
Saturday afternoon. Beyond 24 hours, areas of fog is expected

.MARINE...
Issued at 1251 AM CST Sat Dec 20 2025

Mariners operating small craft over the Gulf may need to exercise
caution on Monday. Otherwise, a ridge of high pressure will remain
positioned over the eastern seaboard through the middle of next
week, maintaining and light mainly easterly to southeasterly flow,
with the exception of a moderate easterly flow over the Gulf on
Monday. /22
